Cisco Aironet 1130 Series Region Supported Channels

Dear all,

Hi,

I have got a second hand Cisco Aironet 1131AG Access Point from USA.

I am living in another country and would like to know if there is a way to update

this device, so instead of only supporting channels 1-11, I could also utilize channels

12 and 13?

Hi there ...

The simple answer is no. There is no code upgrade. You would need to purchase an ap for that region.

You may ask why not a code upgrade .. Well this I how they prevent someone folks from using say channel 13 in the US for example.

Also keep in mind. Since your ap is a North America ap. Power is also regulated by country code and dfs.

If your country belong to A domain then you are fine, if not you need AP with appropriate domain.

AP domain is hardware based can't change through software.

You need to use right country code otherwise you are under FCC violation.
