Hi All,
I've upgraded the FUS to 1.9.0.0 on a few WLCs now with no apparent ill effects. The ~25-30 minute reboot time has me wondering if this is just boot BIOS improvements or does it affect the way the WLC runs in any way. I have read the release notes ( https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282600534&flowid=7012&softwareid=284364857&release=1.9.0.0&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest ) but still curious if anyone has heard of any performance changes, good or bad about it.

I have seen weird issues when the FUS was not upgraded. Things worked better after the FUS was applied. This is from my experience when I have had to troubleshoot issues.

Scott, do you happen to have details on the issues? Having installed dozens of WLCs I am having a heck of a time with one rollout. I'll likely start another thread on that but I am grasping at straws and wanted to see if the FUS played a part.

- The 25-30 minute install-time of the FUS should not be corrrelated to quality aspects of it;neitther to controller performance afterwards. It's just needed to get the correct parts of the FUS to the correct controller components. Attaching a console terminal to the controller during the FUS install process will probably give detail about what happens.

install the FUS image to upgrade components such as the bootloader, field recovery image, FPGA/MCU, and other firmware to their latest respective versions.
