Guest anchor with 8150 and 5508 and new mobility

Hi Guys,

I have two WLCs, one a 5508 and an 8510.

I'm trying to set the 5508 up as a Guest Anchor controller, which I have been able to do successfully. I have the 8510 as the foreign controller, and the 5508 as the anchor. Clients can connect to my guest SSID on an AP registered with the 8510 and I see the EoIP tunnel traffic between the two WLCs, and traffic exiting the 5508. All good so far.

The problem I have is when I turn on new mobility on both controllers. When I do that, without making any other changes, I no longer see data traffic between the two controllers, (all I see is control traffic on UDP/16667 and 16666) and I see all my traffic from clients exiting the 8510 WLC, not the 5508 guest anchor.

My understanding is that new mobility should use CAPWAP between the controllers, but I'm not seeing any CAPWAP or EoIP traffic between the two controllers, and tests have verified that the 8510 WLC is putting the client traffic out via the Management interface, which is the interface associated with the Guest WLAN.

Is there something that I'm missing here?

Port numbers you seen 16666 and 16667 are correct. Still CAPWAP being in use (see the frame structure given in that post) with those UDP port numbers

Thanks guys, all good now. Turns out it was working, the problem I had was that I was trying to capture the traffic using Wireshark and it was the location of my span port which was giving me the wrong information.
