Help with setting up a new SSID with a new DHCP scope

Hello there, hoping someone can point us in the right direction.

We have a Cisco 2500 Series Wireless controller that pushes out the WLANs which use the dhcp scope on the WLC we use which were setup for us when the WLC was originally configured.

We want to do some testing to create a new WLAN with a new larger dhcp scope and would like some guidance to see if we are on the right path. The steps we think we have to follow are:

1. Create the new DHCP scope

2. create a new interface with a different VLAN Identifier and ip address in the same range as the new dhcp scope.

3. Create the new WLAN assigning the new Interface created in step 1 (so making sure it uses the new dhcp scope)

I realise the above is a very simplistic description but we just wanted to make sure we are on the right path.

Many thanks

Hi Tim,

You are on the right track however you will also need to add the WLC’s management interface IP address as the DHCP server, this can be done either on your new interface you created or on the WLAN advanced tab. Below is document that describes in detail, under “Internal DHCP Server Configuration Example”
