Issues to enable 5GHZ Radio in Aironet 3702-UXK9

Hi Team,

I´m setting up a new Aironet 3702-UXK9 and I´m having issues to enable the 5GHZ Radio, it seems that this radio is as ¨station-scanner¨ mode and I can´t change to regular mode as the 2.4GHZ radio.

This is the configuration of both radios 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ:

Cisco_3700#sh run int do0
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 359 bytes
!
interface Dot11Radio0
no ip address
!
encryption vlan 2 mode ciphers aes-ccm
!
ssid Cisco
!
antenna gain 0
stbc
channel 2412
station-role root
bridge-group 1
bridge-group 1 subscriber-loop-control
bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled
bridge-group 1 block-unknown-source
no bridge-group 1 source-learning
no bridge-group 1 unicast-flooding
end

Cisco_3700#sh run int do1
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 286 bytes
!
interface Dot11Radio1
no ip address
antenna gain 0
stbc
station-role scanner
bridge-group 1
bridge-group 1 subscriber-loop-control
bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled
bridge-group 1 block-unknown-source
no bridge-group 1 source-learning
no bridge-group 1 unicast-flooding
end

Cisco_3700#

Cisco_3700#sh ip int br
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
BVI1 10.10.10.1 YES TFTP up up
BVI2 10.10.20.1 YES manual up up
Dot11Radio0 unassigned YES unset up up
Dot11Radio0.2 10.10.20.1 YES manual up up
Dot11Radio1 unassigned YES manual up up
Dot11Radio1.2 unassigned YES unset up up
GigabitEthernet0 unassigned YES TFTP up down
GigabitEthernet0.2 unassigned YES unset up down

It´s important to mention that the 2.4GHZ radio is working perfect, but 5GHZ radio isn´t working.

Please share me your comments.

Best regards.

Neyton

Jorge, maybe too late the answer... :)   what message are you getting when trying?:

ap(config-if)#station-role non-root bridge

in case you get:

Error: Station role can be only scanner mode on 5G of universal AP in -UX domain

Try to "Prime" your AP as indicated here (see "Overall Workflow for Priming a Universal AP", it worked for me)

In case you already solved it, did you have any issue to broadcast 5Ghz SSID? (I have several devices 802.11ac enable but none of them shows my SSID). I tried different channels but nothing (I have a couple of mac minis, Samsung S7 and some PCs).

"

Preparing for Manual Priming

For both lightweight and autonomous mode access points that are awaiting manual priming, both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios are on. SSIDs will broadcast only on the 2.4 GHz band, but at a lower power level that is acceptable in all regulatory domains. SSIDs will not be broadcast on the 5 GHz radio until the AP is primed. The 5 GHz radio will operate in scanner mode and cannot be altered to any other station-role until the AP is primed."

Good information Andrew, Thanks Sir! :)

Thank you Rafael, good information! :)
