Mesh AP do not register

I have build a RAP / MAP setup on my WLC with a switch behind the MAP. Every thing worked here on the desk. Even disconnected it all and reconnected it before shipping it off. The APs are 1242AG on a 2504 with 7.0.220.0 software

The only difference is that my testsetup was with the ANT4941 antenna and the production install is with ANT2506 and a 20ft cable. Both connected to the 2.4Ghz plug ( next to the Ethernet interface ).

The RAP registers with the WLC, but the MAP is never seen.

Have been doing Debug LWAP client event and debug MESH adjacency but nothing is trying to register, exept on the FE0

Any ideas to troubleshoot this further, like testing if the antenna is correctly mounted etc. before I go onsite to trouble (this include a planetrip. Sigh!)

Thank you for any assistance.

Yep that's what Im trying to tell you.

The backhaul of MESH is default 5 Ghz.

(I think, I at some point have seen an AP preconfigured for MESH from Cisco, try to use the 2,4 Ghz radio as a last resort).

Perhaps when you did the test setup on your desk, the two APs where close enough to each other to work without the 5Ghz antennas.

Did you put the MAP's mac address on the mac filter?  Did you also set the bridge group name or did you leave it as default.  Is the MAP line of sight or maybe its too far away from the RAP?

Thanks,

Scott

2,4 Ghz for backhaul ? (hint hint ?)

So what you are trying to tell me is that I need a 5Ghz antenna instead and move the connection to 802.11a ports?

Can see in the WLC that backhaul is set for 802.11a..

Been reading on this and it would seem that you are correct ;-)

Thank for the guideline. Have ordered another set of antennas.
