Hi!

I have cisco WLC and three cisco 1522 access points. The problem is that only one access point has two radio interfaces, so it has 802.11a and 802.11b/g.

Other two access points have only one radio interface (dot 0 ). They have just 802.11b/g/

When i type in CLI of WLC:

(Cisco Controller) >config 802.11a enable (name of ap that has only one radio interface)

AP does not support the specified radio type.
The followings are supported radio types of the AP:
802.11b

How can I enable 802.11a in my acces points? may be I should upgrade the firmware?

Can you post the complete output to the command "show ap config general AP_NAME".

Both AP has same model number, one is showing two radio and other is showing only one radio...Interesting..

Could you please tell me what is the configured country code on WLC ?you can paste the output of this command: sh sysinfo

Note AP1522s with serial numbers prior to FTX1150XXXX do not support 5- and 10-MHz channels on the 4.9-GHz radio; however, a 20-MHz channel is supported.

Note Those AP1522s with serial numbers after FTX1150XXXX support 5-, 10-, and 20-MHz channels.

and I noticed on AP that has two radio interfaces LED indicators are all green

but on AP that has one radio interface RF-1 LED indicator is blinking RED.

Hi,

I would say....first upgarde the WLC software to 7.0 series. You are having verly old one.

as per this guide: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/technology/mesh/design/guide/MeshAP_52.html

LED RED means: Firmware failure. Contact your support organization for assistance.

*** Also check(For one radio AP): Wireless > Access Points > Radios > 802.11a/n/ac or 802.11b/g/n , on far right side a blue drop down arrow is there.. just click on that and select Configure and enable the Admin status of AP.

Question: which model of WLC you have ?

Hi Sandeep!!!

I upgraded the firmware from 5.2.192 to 7.0 series. Blinking RED led stopped, so RF-1 indicator is off. But the 802.11a didnt appear.

my Cisco 1522 has only one radio...
