NAS-ID override working on any version of CUWN?

CSCug73845 says it effectively doesn't work in 7.4.100.0 and doesn't show a fix till 8.x, but I've heard of people getting it to work.  Doesn't work for me.  Anyone?  I see exactly the symptom described, in 7.6.120.0.

I actually had it working in 7.6.1 and now it doesn't work after 8.0.115 upgrade. Still researching what went wrong..
