Newbie question about communication with Cisco.

Hello, I am new on Cisco area and I would like to take data from a Cisco wireless controller(If it is possible). I little confused where to look and where to read and how to communicate with Cisco machines(I use Java). I would like to guide me where to look and read about this. Sorry for my English.
