Syslog messages from peer redundancy management ip

Good day!

I have 4 controllers 5508 in  2 HA pairs with 8.0.133.0 software.

I noticed strange messages like:

 %CHKPT-4-INVALID: [SS]chkpt_message.c:3047 Invalid checkpoint client ID (0).[...It occurred 8 times/sec!.]
 *spamApTask4: Jul 15 09:03:44.096: %LOG-4-Q_IND: [SS]chkpt_message.c:3047 Invalid checkpoint client ID (0).[...It occurred 7 times.!]
 *spamApTask4: Jul 15 09:03:44.096: %LWAPP-3-INVALID_AID2: [SS]spam_api.c:1588 Association identifier 1 for client ac:fd:ec:a4:84:dd is already in use by ac:fd:ec:a4:84:dd for AP 00:3a:9a:1e:22:c0 slot 0 vap 7

The main strange for me is that the messages comes from address of redundancy standby peer.

Maybe someone knows why this happening? Can this message points to the network or HA problem?

Thanks!

I have this same problem too on my 5508 HA pair running 8.0.132.0 showing up in Syslog from my standby controller redundancy mgmt port IP. This issue started after migrating primary/secondary controllers to HA pair.

*spamApTask5: Jan 24 07:53:06.303: %LWAPP-3-INVALID_AID2: [PA]spam_api.c:1588 Association identifier 6 for client 5c:8d:4e:dc:7e:33 is already in use by d8:bb:2c:98:d9:48 for AP 70:e4:22:83:14:10 slot 1 vap 4

I'm running 8.0.140.0 and also still get syslog messages from the standby WLC.

Hi,

we get the same notifications and quite a lot of them too, about 6000 per hour.

%CHKPT-4-INVALID: [SS]chkpt_message.c:3047 Invalid checkpoint client ID (0).

%LOG-4-Q_IND: [SS]chkpt_message.c:3047 Invalid checkpoint client ID (0).[...It occurred 3 times.!]

running with 2 AIR-CT5508-K9 on version 8.2.141.0

There is very little to be found on this subject on the internet or the cisco site

You might want to check out this bug:

https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuy78583/?reffering_site=dumpcr

it is fixed after 8.0.134.x so 8.0.133.0 can be affected due to this. Kindly upgrade to 8.0.140.0 and see if you still get the messages

For these messages "%CHKPT-4-INVALID: [SS]chkpt_message.c:3047 Invalid checkpoint client ID (0)."  there is a bug that is opened CSCvf22697.  It is found on a different level of code but it my be the same issue you are seeing.

For the other messages like "%LOG-4-Q_IND: [SS]chkpt_message.c:3047 Invalid checkpoint client ID (0).[...It occurred 3 times.!]"  I can't find anything in the bug search tool but I am going to contact TAC.  I have been complaining for a while about all the background syslog messages/noise.  The workaround has always been reduce the logging level, but if you reduce the logging level you miss stuff when you try to troubleshoot.

Thanks, Rasika. it is indeed an inspiration and experience.

Seeing this on many controllers as well.  8.5.131.0, 8.2.164.0 releases.  Was there ever a resolution, other than filtering ?

Same issue 5508 - 8.3

Which exact 8.3 version? There were some fixes in the past for various HA issues.

8.3.143 but its ok I'm going to upgrade to 8.5.140 in 1 month.
