Very Low RF Signals- WLC-5508.

Dear Friends,

I have 3 access points placed close to each other expecting appreciable data rates & excellent signals. Unfortunately the signals are very poor.

1. Is this due to channel overlapping ? how do I find it?

2.How to choose non-overlapping channels?

3. How to increase the coverage area?

Please assist.

Thanks in Advance,

Best Regards,

Taufeeq

Yeah what Leo said:)

You want to use non overlapping channels as much as possible and RRM does a good job with that.

Hi Scott ,

I am awaiting for your response

Regards,

Taufeeq.

Well as I can tell, you need to set you Min TX power to maybe 8dbm. If you look at you tx power, they are too low especially on the 2.4ghz side. Clients might refuse to associate to an access point with a low tx power level.

So go in the 2.4 and 5 ghz settings in TPC and change the min value to 8. You will need to disable the radio before you can make the change.

Here is a screen shot of where it's located on the 2.4ghz. Do this also on the 5ghz.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your reply!

I will make the change in configuration as suggested.

May I ask you regarding the selection of country. Its US currently instead Saudi Arabia. Will it effect the performance of WLC anyway. Please suggest.

Thanks & Regards,

Taufeeq.

Country code doesn't affect the WLC, it affects the various access points and what country code those access points are manufactured for.  If you have multiple ap's with different country codes, then the WLC will use the channels and power levels that are common to all the country codes defined in the WLC.  So typically it will affect what channels or bands you may use and the max transmit for a given channel.

Thanks,

Scott

Is there any way to configure WLC to auto choose the non-overlapping channels if not how may I configure non-overlapping channels manually.

Appreciate your response Mr. Scott?

Taufeeq ?

Did setting the max and min TX power help?

Yes Mr. Scott all I wanted was more coverage. Hence by increasing Tx power archived it ?
