WLAN QoS mapping by WLC and LWAP

Why does the WLC map the DSCP to the LWAPP's 802.1p field when the LWAP does NOT understand this field in the LWAPP data unit? In fact, the LWAP does NOT mark this field for frames going towards the WLC.

Also, why does the wired switch bother with 802.1p CoS when the only thing the WLC needs is the DSCP to map to the LWAPP data unit's 802.1p and DSCP fields?

Because when travelling from WLC to AP, there might be trunk links that have QOS based on 802.1p field, and not DSCP field ?
