Cisco VSOM with AXIS M3007

Trying to connect an AXIS M3007-PV with Vsom

  • VSOM ver 7.5.1
  • VSMC 7.5.1
  • AXIS M3007-PV firmware 5.70.1.1
  • Using the Axis M3007 driver that comes with VSOM

I get the following error "The Following error occurred while verifying the device. Invalid username or password credential." I have check my credentials and still get the same error. I have changed the password so it doesn't contain special characters and still get the same error. Tried rolling back the firmware on the camera to an earlier version and still get the same error. Tried configuring the camera with Onvif, Axis Generic VAPIX 2.0 and VAPIX 3.0 drivers and still get the same error. Has anyone configured an AXIS M3007-PV in Vsom 7.5.1 successfully? Any help is appreciated.

I'll be working on a site in a couple weeks with some of these AXIS cameras, and will be implementing a VSM 7.6 server suite.  I'll let you know if I run into anything similar.

Could always try a packet capture (tcpdump) on ETH0 of the VSMS instance to try and capture the raw authentication attempt to see whether or not its *actually* succeeding.  Could then compare to an authentication capture from your own workstation?

Best of luck!

I just deployed a dozen of these Axis cameras at my University. Both M3007 and the exterior flavor. I didn't have the problem you describe but we are on 7.6. The cameras look and work great!

I notice on the 7.5.1 release notes the supported camera firmware for that camera is only up to 5.40.13.2. In VSM 7.6 firmware 5.70.x is supported. Perhaps that's why it works for me but not for you?

Thanks for this tidbit Jason!  I'll have to keep this in mind :-)

I did a capture on the VSMS and it showed the complete error message shown in the picture:

I was sure my password was correct and so I rolled back the firmware to version 5.40.13.1 the earliest version I could find. In my first attempt I just didn't roll the firmware back far enough. The camera is working great with:

  • 5.40.13.1 firmware
  • Video Quality: custom
  • Field Of Views: Quad View
  • Media Type: H_264
  • Format: NTSC
  • Framerate: 10
  • Bitrate: 3000
  • Resolution: 1600x1200
  • Transport Type: UDP_UNICAST

Thank you guys for the help.

I just finished a 7.6 install and had the same password issue.  I rolled back the Axis M3007 firmware to version 5.55.2 and/or .3 and it works fine.  Look in the release notes and it will tell you the firmware version that VSOM supports for the M3007.

Are you able to use the PTZ?  I am on 7.5.1 and it works fine except

for the ptz function.

Haven't tried PTZ. Our use case was for panoramic view. I did notice in the release notes that PTS is only supported in only one of the viewing options. Panoramic was not one of them which supported PTZ
