CIVS-IPC-5010 stability and errors

dannymget

Greetings.

I have two main issues with the 5010 dome camara.

- Issue 1: The web interface goes dead after a while
After a while, I cannot access the camera directly over the web interface. The browser only shows a blank screen and waits. The SSH interface is still ok and I can the restart the camera without any problems. After that, the web access works again.

- Issue 2: Configuring the 2nd video stream from VSOM 6.3.1 does not work.
When activating a 2nd video stream (720p/h.264/ntsc/5000), I find the following in the ims.log:

2011-05-09 17:13:43.015 [ proxy(2515).p_s2_Cam5010_CorridorEast_2 BE_PROXY=1 ] doQuerySecondaryOptions failed
2011-05-09 17:13:43.015 [ proxy(2515).p_s2_Cam5010_CorridorEast_2 BE_PROXY=1 ] Configuration ERROR: doQuerySecondaryOptions failed

Does anybody has an idea how to fix these two issues?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards

Danny

Hi Danny,

For the first issue, it would be best if you could open a service request with Cisco TAC the next time it happens.  It would be best if we could access the camera while in this state and prior to recovering it with a reboot.  When the browswer cannot be accessed, is the camera still streaming video to the media server?

For the second issue, can you elaborate on your configuration?  What is the resolution and bitrate of the primary stream, and what are the various settings you've tried on the secondary?  Have any settings worked for you on the secondary stream?

I have set up both primary and secondary feeds in my lab with a 5010, with 6.3.1, and didn't run into any problems.

Thank you,

Sean

Hi Sean.

Thanks for your answer.

Reg the two issues:

1. I will certainly open a case, since it already happened again.

2. I have tried various varations. It does not help, using either NTSC or PAL. Currently, I have the following: Primary Stream: 1080p, H264, Bitrate 5000, Quality:50 - OK.

Secondary Stream: 720p, H264, PAL, Bitrate: 3000, Quality:50 - Not OK.

The error in the ims log is the same as already written.

Is this a driver issue?

Thanks and regards

Danny

I think you might just be asking for a little more than the camera can do.  Try something like this:

Primary:  1080p/3000 bitrate

Secondary:  720p/1500 bitrate

Thanks,

Sean

Sean.

I have adjusted the settings according to your advice. Now, none of the feeds seems ok. as you can see from below:

Attached you will see mine.  I have the streams configured as follows:

Primary:     H.264/3000/1080p

Secondary:     H.264/2000/720p

With these softwares:

VSMS/VSOM 6.3.1

5010 F/W:  1.5.9.9111-O3.4486

It is working okay.

You might want to try the following:

  1. Delete both feeds from VSOM
  2. Create the Primary feed with above settings
  3. Create the Secondary feed with above settings

Make sure all config is only done from within VSOM

Let me know if that helps.

Sean

Hi Sean.

Thanks for your answer.

I have done exactly, what you proposed. BTW, the versions we have are the same.

Result: First stream: OK, Second one: NOT.

Here are the details from the log:

Would you prefer to reboot the CAM? I have a feeling that this might help, but I would like to wait in case for troubleshooting.

Thanks and regards

Danny

yes.  I meant to include that step after deleting the feeds.  Please reboot the camera.

Thanks,

Sean

Sean.

After the reboot, it works.

Leaves us the question: why? And why the hangs. I have rebooted that device regularely, since I could not access the web. Can't be a buffer issue then.

What would you recommend now?

Thanks very much indeed for your help.

Regards$

Danny

Hi Danny,

I would monitor it for a while now that you have lower settings. The stability issues may have been related to the higher bitrates.   I think engineering is working on a document that will outline the tested values for primary and secondary feeds.  If you continue to have problems with these settings, then you should open a service request so we can get the necessary data to have engineering have a look.

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean.

Thanks very much. I will do that.

Also good to know that the BU is working on some info, since I have the impression, that this unit still needs more attention.

Happy to provide a feedback and open a case if necessary.

Cheers

Danny

Does anybody know, if the DHCP issue has been addressed in the BU?

Since there are other problems around (what I have heard), I do hope for a FW update soon.

Thanks for any feedback.

Danny

We have also just received one of these 5000 series domes for our own lab.  I'll try to get some time today to perform some

experimentation as well.

I'd be more than willing to work with TAC if I'm able to reproduce any web service instability.

Cheers!
