FMC 1600 mgmt0, mgmt1, CIMC

Hi,

I am relatively new to FMC, I know tnat CIMC is for management of the hardware of the server fan and so on,

my question is, is it possible to assign for instance inband network to mgmt0 and OoB network to mgmt1? is it wise to use the same OoB network for CIMC?

Thanks

Davide

Hi,

Regarding question 1:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/fmc-1600-2600-4600/hw/guide/install-fmc-1600-2600-4600/overview.html#concept_elv_nld_4db

The CIMC interface is strictly available on this interface:

CIMC interface (labeled M)

Note

CIMC is supported only for LOM access. CIMC is not supported on any other interfaces.

Regarding question 2:

You can have both FMC management and server management (hardware) on the same network as in the same subnet/broadcast domain. It's all up to you.

Usually, firewall management is separate from server (iLO/CIMC/iDRAC) management subnet.

BR,

Octavian
