I notice that there are 2 ethernet ports on the back of our Cisco Servers.  Would anyone know if there are any iLO type features available?

Thanks.

I know that on the CPS SKU MSPs there is an embedded Supermicro management board.  I don't quite remember what the default credentials are for the embedded device, but I do recall they weren't that difficult to find.

On the UCS it's named CIMC (Cisco Integrated Management Controller) and it's similar to an ILO-interface:

We are running CIVS-MSP-4RU media servers.  Is there an iLO type feature for these servers??

Thanks.

All of our installations we are using with ilo. It is working perfect. You must use it.

Anil, What type of servers are you running?  Can you send a reference link for the setup you used to get the iLO features going?

Thanks.

There is no iLo, DRAC, or similar module on the CIVS-MSP chassis.  I'm almost positive of it.  I can only guess at what Anil is refering to.

In the newer MSP's and CPS servers you can set up the iLO through the bios.  I believe that it is web based.

Yea we tried binding the NICs early on round 2009 on the MSP and Cisco said it was not supported.

Hi All,

Kim sorry for late answer.

You can set up ile ip on bios. First option Only enter bios page from standart b?os page and give an ilo ip from your block. Thats all.

Second option is if you have a dhcp server gor the camera vlan it automatically gets ip also and you can see if you search the block.

You MUST set up ilo if you have a wide area applications cause you can even start?p a poweroffed machine over ilo and thesr msp- 2ru servers have a bug which they are closing and bot starting up their selves.

Thank you, Anil!!  Can you point me to a manual or an online link that would detail your explanation?  I'm not understanding what you are referring to when you talk about 'the block'.  Where are the iLO features managed after they are setup??  Would I expect to see them as menu items when I log in via the vsmc??

Any reference information you could point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again, Anil!!

Hey Kim,

I just came across the following:

http://www.supermicro.com/products/nfo/ipmi.cfm

It appears there is lots of information regarding firmware updates, best practices, and manuals for setting up the IPMI modules in the rebranded SuperMicro chassis.

I believe when Anil refers to "the block", he simply means a valid IP address within the subnet you are putting the server on.

I hope this helps!
