Newer Router Aux to Older Switch MGMT - Management

Hello,

I have a 2911 I would like to console into via a console cable. Then connect the AUX port on it into a 4948 on it's MGT port

(I only have one serial to usb cable). Apparently previously you could only use the port to do rommon and smnp. They changed this in an updated.

I am trying to follow this tutorial:

and was able to get the 2911 configured properly, The 4948 is having issues setting encapsulation on FastEthernet1.

% Incomplete command.

                             ^

JPL(config-if)#encapsulation ?
% Unrecognized command

I could configure the AUX(2911) port to go to Console(4948) port or to MGT. Whatever works so that I can connect to my router only and then to my Switch.
