Thanks for confirming me the same. We are using ASA 5510-BUN-K9 with ASA Version 7.0(4) firmware installed. I am now assuming that they would have obsoleted the firmware.

If that was the case is the new firmware backward compatible with all its previous firmware?

So, a couple of clarifications here:

The ASA 5510, while not technically not 'obsolete' (it is still sold, and still runs current firmware), has been superceded by a newer generation of platforms; specifically the ASA 5512 or ASA 5515.

While I certainly wouldn't advocate an ASA-5510 customer replace / upgrade to an ASA-5512 or ASA-5515 for no reason, I would recommend a _new_ customer look at either the ASA-5512 or ASA-5515 instead to ensure a longer product lifecycle (these new generation of ASA's were just released back in March).

As for your other question on code releases, 7.0(4) is indeed, quite old.  I would recommend upgrading to the newest code level available (presuming you are under an active SmartNet contract).  Note that the ASA-5510 required a 1GB memory upgrade kit be in place in order to run any code release  8.2.x or newer.  This is relatively inexpensive upgrade (~$150).
