Unable to view video via web browser on 6400 or 6020 camera

I am in the process of configuring one each of the 6400 and 6020 cameras.  I can access them via the camera's web interface and do some configuration without any problems.

When I click on the View Video tab, I get the message about a Cisco CameraUIControl needing to be installed.  I say yes and it acts like it is installing but I get a followup error that says to follow the web browser instructions for installing this control.  At this point the web browser is not showing any such information.

I have tried IE8,9 and 10, Firefox and Chrome (latest versions of the last two).  I have local admin rights on my Windows 7 64 bit computer.

Anyone else run into this ?

Since posting the first message in this thread, I found another thread that showed me that this directory was on the camera -

https://10.34.150.24/utility/

Found this file on the directory -

CameraUIControl.cab  06-Feb-2013 21:55   1.8M

Downloaded it locally and extracted it.  This gave me a .msi file that I ran without any errors.  I restarted IE at that point and got a little further.  I now have a black window on the View Video/Video control tab that I didnt have before.  Still get prompted to install the CameraUIControl activeX component, which says that it installed but still doesnt run.

Suggestions ?

Ron

I have this problem too. It is being blocked by some policy on my ompany machine. I have disabled protected mode and turned off windows firewall, but I think AV is blocking this file nontheless. Please let me know if you find what is blocking it, and I will certainly do the same.

My workaround was to dust off an XP machine and use that instead.

Hey Guys,

I've got a new 6400 I haven't had the opportunity to try out.  I'll take this opportunity to do some testing on it and let you know if I can reproduce as well. If I make any progress, I'll let you know.

Have you added the cameras IP (or, protip; the whole subnet...) to the trusted sites list in I.E?

Cheers!

You're right, the cab file extraction and install still isn't invoked properly... just like back with the original 4xxx series.  Grrrr.  However, after manually pulling the MSI and installing it, I *am* able to pull video from the unit.

Hi

I had the same issue, installed the latest firmware and rebooted twice which fixed the problem. The current software is very buggy, I am unable to enable snapshots for motion detection.

In IE10 use compatibility mode and the video will show up.

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

Had to downgrade to IE9 as I could upgrade the code on the cameras with IE10.

Will put 10 back on and see if it will show video.  Will also try IE9 in compatible mode as well.

Found the solution:

I had already disabled Windows Firewall and the Trend Anti-virus on the laptop.  Still no joy.

There were two separate issues.  On laptop A, a Dell Latitude, the video card installed, listed as a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" is one that has minimal video memory.and not capable of viewing the HD graphics coming from the Video Camera.

On Dell Precision, it has a Nvidia Quadro 200M with 2GB of onboard memory.  This one ended up being up to the task.

The final hoop to jump through was having to add each of the camers to the "Trusted Sites" list in IE8.  Then the ActiveX control would install and the camera worked without a problem after that.  Once I get an issue resolved with the Cisco VSOM server I am using resolved, I will see about upgrading to at least IE 9.  I did have to use compatibility mode in IE8 to get it to work as well.

I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Harpreet Sandhu in Physical Security TAC who helped figure this out.
