Hi Guys ,
I install the video system for the first time.I added IP cameras(2421 seires) on CVOM ,but when I wanted to
get video stream from it,on OM I saw "try to connect to server" then "connection fail" messages in black area
where it is suppose to receive live video from camera.is there any problem with Media server?
do IP cameras ,OM or MS servers need a license to work ?
Please ,could someone help me ?

Hello,
It sounds like your media server might not be able to connect to your IP cameras. If you go to the SUSE Linux desktop of the media server, can you do the following?
If you cannot do either of these, then you need to look into getting network connectivity up between the server and cameras. If you can, then we need to look further.

Dear Sean ,
I solved the problem connection problem , but now:
I had a problem in CCTV system ,I could not get the video
stream from IP camera (2421).
In Syslog on IP camera ,I had this message:
03/13/2011 21:13:47 <133> Stream: RTSP stream started.
[ip: video, UDP: 10.100.0.2:5002 -> 10.100.10.106:16400, admin]
This refers that I have video stream between IP camera and
the server.
In our scenario the server works as VSMS,VSOM,VSMS on one
platform.
On the sever no stream from camera(black screen).
On the switch that connect both IP camera ,and server port
action is the same for both ports.
On IP Camera one user is connected that refers that server
can reach the IP camera.
I think that it is video parameter problem, could you advice me?
Kindly find attachment for video paramsters on both server and ip camera.

Zaher,
Can you share some details:
You might want to take a look at the IMS log on the server. It can found at /usr/BWhttpd/logs/ims.log (Use the command tail -f /usr/BWhttpd/logs/ims.log to view the log in real time). This log can give you information about the connection problems the server is facing.
How many users does the IP camera have configured? The media server would need 1 account to communicate with the camera. If you are using the same account to login to the camera admin pages, the VSM server will lose the connection and not be able to get video.

Dear Aditya
the version for VSMS is 6.2 ,and for VSOM is 4.2.
the OS is windows7 ,and IE is internet explorer 6 for client.
I want to display the video on the operator bage after I logged with root user.
I want to ask you about media server user account ,how I can configure it ?
is that needs to add it on camera ,is this user consider as authentication parameters
when you create a new ip camera on the server(vsom).could you clarify steps ,please ?
thanks for your support.

Hi Zaher,
The VSM client for 4.2/6.2 is supported on Windows XP SP3 only with an IE 6 or 7. Windows 7 OS is supported on VSM 6.3.1 onwards only.
Can you try accessing the video from a supported client workstation?
The following link on VSM client workstation base specifications might help you.

As to your other question, you need a user account for the media server to talk to the camera. For this you would need to create that user account on the camera. Then the authentication parameters needs to be entered while adding the camera in VSOM.
