Ouch!

Unfortunately, this isn't really an issue with VSM at all, but likely a problem with the VSAN itself.  It's the Linux kernel informing you of the I/O error (which then triggers it to unmount the filesystem).  My advice would be to engage the support of the SAN vendor to help troubleshoot why you are experiencing I/O problems.

Thanks Scott.

I really wish you all the best, and wish I had more experience with VSAN to share :-S... I did manage to find the following and would love to hear your progress if you get to the bottom of it:

Even if it's just to bounce ideas around, let me know.

Cheers!

An absolutely *wild* stab in the dark actually... the message seems to indicate the (journal?) logging for the filesystem on top of the block device?  I know a lot of logging systems are quite picky about write caching, so perhaps it's something to do with that? :-S
