Hello, I have a windows 7 64 bit machine that the slider bar on the video pane will not display so you can't speed up or slow down the video. Upgraded from 6.3.1 to 6.3.2 didn't help, upgraded to ie9 same problem, found out ie9 is not supported in vsom 6.3.2 just tried in case.  Uninstalled the client and reinstalled with no sucess, looking for other ideals?????

Under windows XP we had this file:

WINDOWS\system32\MSCOMCTL.ocx

getting it to work involved:

C:\#: regsvr32  \windows\system32\MSCOMCTL

I saw the red bar when I installed windows 7 too, but I found the old ocx file is not around anymore.

The red bar goes away is you agree to install the active-X plug in called  "service pack 6 visual controls"

That's one of the numerous active x controls the browser asks if  it's ok to run the first time you connect into a VSM server from a  windows 7 PC.

If you are seeing the red bar, try this to get it to load:

1) In an open browser window, click "Tools" on the menu bar and then select "Internet Options."

2) From the "Internet Options" window, choose the "Security" tab. Then select the custom level button.

3) Scroll to the list of ActiveX Controls and plugins.

4) To enable ActiveX Controls in Windows, mark the circle for  "Enable" next to "Binary and Script Behaviors," "Run ActiveX Controls  and Plugins" and "Script ActiveX Controls Marked Safe for Scripting."

5) Mark the circle for "Prompt" next to "Download signed ActiveX Controls."

6) Watch for a warning message to pop up asking if you are sure you want to modify your security settings. Click "Yes."

7) Click "Apply" and then "OK" to exit the window.

You might have to lower the security setting on IE for it to let you try and get the activeX control to load.

Let me know if that works for you.

I found another reference to the MSCOMCTL.OCX file on windows 7.

Here's the link:

The file lives in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory now.

The process to make sure it's registered looks the same as before.  Just use regserver32 and look for the success message.
