Hello everyone!
I have an older VSOM 6.3.3 server that is having issues starting a couple of services. I have tried to manually start the services but they never start. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to specifically target these three services to start instead of trying to start/restart all services?
When I do a status check via CLI the following services show as down
Running command - /etc/init.d/cisco status
Checking for xvcrmanMonitor... Down.
Checking for xvcrman... Down.
Checking for SystemMonitor server... Down.
When its going through its start/restart of the service I get the following error.
The following cisco services failed to start: BMS SysMon
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi,
please check the space available in the server with df -h. could be server running out of space.
service could be down for various reason, if the XVCRMAN is down that means recording could have stopped for some reason. see below logs
1. /var/log/message
2. /usr/BWhttpd/logs/xvcrman.log
let me know, if you find any thing unusual.

Hi rmanjesh!
I checked the drive space and there is plenty of free space. I pulled the log and am going through it now. I also had the client update the time on the server as it was 1 hour off. Do you have any other suggestions? I think I may need to rebuild the server but am trying to avoid doing that.
Thanks!

Hi,
we have very less info to understand what went wrong. how did you end up with this state? have you tried service cisco restart?

Not sure what went wrong. It was working, then it wasn't. I have tried restarting the services and even a reboot. I can get into VSMC but not into VSOM. It also says the database is disconnected but I figure this is because the services are in a stopped state.

i hope you have the lasted DB backup, just in case. if you are re-installing the server.
did you find anything unusual from the logs?

Hi rmanjesh, Sorry for the delay in response. The only error I see is in the xvcrman.txt file with the below entries. It repeats over and over.
I will be out to the client site tomorrow to rebuild the server. I have a backup but its from 1 year ago.
Error message:
Failed to boot up the alarm interface, recorder is continuing
Schedule based recording DISABLED

... you mentioned you are able to get into VSMC on the server. Are you able to produce a support report? I'd check it out, if you can.
Cheers,
Scott.

Hi Scott,
I had to rebuild the machine and restored from a backup that I had about a year ago. Everything appears to be working fine now. Thanks for the response!
