I haven't been able to find a recovery iso for 4.2.1/6.2.1 on the cisco site. I found a 6.3 recovery iso on the ciscoet.com site but nothing for an older version. Anyone know where i can find this iso?

Hi Mitch,
Check this link: (it should prompt to begin the download immediately)
http://www.ciscoet.com/files/vsm621_msp-recovery-235.iso
The above ISO includes VSOM.
Thanks,
Maher

That worked like a charm but i have noticed when i go into the network settings that there isn't a network device. So i created one (eth0)
and went through the typical configuration. What i found is that i was able to get into the vsmc but not into the vsom portion, even though i changed from the home page to the vsom server. Now, when i try and get back to the vsmc i can't and am given connection refused.
Any thoughts are welcome!
Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Mitch,
Can you check if the VSM services are running properly on the server? Run the command 'service cisco status' on the Linux command line. Ideally all the services should be seen as 'running'.

Everything is up and running besides the vsms daemon and vsrecorder (3 downs). I have noticed if i don't have an IP assigned to a nic, i can get into both vsm and vsom consoles. When i have an IP in place, i lose access to vsom. Do you think this is because of the vsms daemon being down? If so, how do i start those services?
Edit: I should also note that when i downgraded the server via the above listed above, the network cards weren't there when i went to add an IP. I didn't select one from the list but i created a new one. Do i want to match a driver?

Mitch,
You should post the whole error on the startup. Make sure that you're
not binding your NIC.
Try this to see if it helps.
1. Uncheck the Repos in the VSMC page and save
2. Recheck the Repos in the VSMC page and save
3. Restart the Cisco Services on the Media Server.

Just got off the phone with Tac and the iso(http://www.ciscoet.com/files/vsm621_msp-recovery-235.iso
) that was suggested above isn't the right one needed for this vsom server. I believe i found the solution to all
the problems!
Thanks to all for the replies!

Hi Mitch,
Glad you were successful, but sorry you had to discover the recovery DVD was not built for your server model. Any server beginning with serial number AMX, any of the CIVS-MS- platforms were not included in the recovery DVD. The CIVS-MSP- platforms are included, and for the VSM 6.3+ recovery DVD, so is the CPS-MSP-1RU and 2RU servers.
