Hi all,

I am having an issue on a clients laptop where they cannot fast forward through an archive. This was working last week prior to some windows updates being installed by the client. The problem is that when you go to an archive and drag the bar from left to right it only shows numbers 0 - 12 and not slowest - + - Slow - normal etc. and the archive only plays at normal speed.

I have removed alot of the updates from after it was last working but still cant seem to get it working.

Any help would be appreciated

I have seen this problem on one user's PC. Have you tried a different PC on that network to test the problem? I don't have a fix yet but I will let you know what we find out.

I am having the same problem across all pc's used to access VSOM. You are able to slide the bar left or right, but the archive will not fast forward anymore.

Hi All.

We have a defect opened for this issue:   CSCuc41961

We have discovered that this issue is realated to a MS update.

It appreas that as soon as Update KB2597986 is applied to any machine VSOM will no longer allow you to fast forward or rewind archived video.  This update closes a fairly significant hole in Office 2010 and once applied it cannot be uninstalled.

Holly, Thank you for the update. I will pass it along to our users.

Is there any resolution to this problem? It severely impacts the functionality of the system.

Hi matthew,

try the procedure below and you will get the scroll bar working again.

as soon as Update KB2597986 is applied to any machine VSOM will no longer allow you to fast forward or rewind archived video.
This update closes a fairly significant hole in Office 2010 and once applied it cannot be uninstalled.
This update causes issue with ActiveX

Workaround:

To resolve the issues the Windows Update causes to ActiveX:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2597986
Scroll towards the bottom of the page till you find the "fix it" button
Running the Fix It program
Restart IE
log back into VSOM
scroll bar and speed slier should both be fixed

I too would like to say Thank you Karen.  I was seeing the same issue and it was evident something was wrong when the scroll bar slider was just showing a number instead of the date and time.  (see below).  After the fix the scroll bar is back to normal.

Thanks,

Scott

Please note, this issue is being tracked as a Bug, you can find it in the Bug Toolkit on Cisco.com under:

CSCuc41961 Windows Updates break Slider Bar and Scroll Bar

Is that a public URL, Holly?  I can resolve it, but it never loads for me.
