Upgrading ACS 5.x to ISE 2.1

Hello All--I'm looking to migrate a customer from their current ACS (v5.5) to ISE 2.1 or higher in the near future (next 90 days). Upon research from documentation and communities postings, it is recommended to upgrade first upgrade ACS v5.5 to v5.8.x first and then to ISE v2.1 or higher. From my readings, it is recommended that ACS be upgraded to v5.8.0.32 and NOT to v5.8.1.4 (which is the most current as of 11/05/2016) before migrating over to ISE v2.1. Is this correct? Is there a reason why upgrading to ACS v5.8.1.4 is not recommended if one plans to migrate to ISE v2.1 eventually? Please advise. Thanks in advance for your input/guidance.

Sincerely,

Keith

I am not sure what documentation you are referring to. Please see the ACS to ISE migration documentation that  You can migrate from ACS 5.5 to ISE 2.1 directly.

ACS 5.8.1 is meant for supporting 35xx series appliance.  Hope this helps
