Cisco Router 1841 line protocol is down

Hello guys,

I am having issues testing connectivity from int f0/0 to my PC. First of all, I'd like to let you guys know that I am a somewhat a beginner when it comes to setting up a lab. I am learning how to do this because I am looking to get my CCNA cert soon.

So the problem I have is that when I do a shutdown, the line protocol goes up and then after a few seconds it goes down again. Both devices, my computer and the router are set to auto duplex and auto speed. I am wondering if I need to connect a cable from f0/0 to my computer as well because all I have is the console cable connected to my computer. Do I need to connect a cable from f0/0 to my computer to solve the problem? If so, what cable? Or maybe I need both the console and f0/0 connections to my PC.

Thank you!
