Hello,
I received this router (CISCO887-SEC-K9) but I can not log on. The default identifiers (cisco / cisco, admin / admin, admin / cisco etc) do not work. The boot interrupt procedure does not work either. The reset procedure with the reset button (Press and hold the Reset button until the system status LED begins to flash.)

This router is special?

The router has a RESET button (HERE) to do password reset.

This button does not seem to work. Nothing happens when:
  - I press on
  - I press on for 5s
  - I press it just after powering up

On the assumption that the button is broken, I disassemble the motherboard to close the circuit directly on the soldering points.
On the assumption that I am failing myself, I tried to press the reset button on another router (C887VA) and the button worked.

Ok, now console into the router and reboot.  I want to see the entire boot-up sequence.  I am suspecting some joker enabled "no service password-recovery".

I do not see any mention of what you're talking about :/

Try this: Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco 806, 826, 827, 828, 831, 836, 837 and 881 Series Routers

Once the router is accessible, check the configuration to make sure no one has inserted a line to disable the reset button.  If there is none, you can opt to RMA the appliance.

Unfortunately, the procedure for interrupting the boot sequence does not work (step 4) and the boot continues.

I guess RMA the appliance.

Thank you very much for the help provided. Since there is no support for this model, I will probably look at the JTAG option.

we're trying to find out how to disable the reset button please?

any ideas ?
