Can't ping client machines by name through WRVS4400N

I recently replaced an old router with a new WRVS4400N and upgraded the firmware to most recent version. Everything seems to be working except that I can't ping any of the machines attached to the router by their names like I used to. I can only ping them via their IP address. Below is an example of what the ping returns. For some reason the request is being resolved outside of my network. I'm kind of a novice with this, so it's probably something simple. I'd appreciate any ides.

Hello Terry,

According to the product user guide, http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/csbr/wrvs4400n/administration/guide/WVRS4400N_Admin_Guide_v2.pdf, you can only perform the PIng test using device IP addresses. Hope that helps!

Ah, I see didn't explain my problem accurately. I am not trying to perform the ping operation from the router. I am actually trying to ping one PC from another PC. I had no problems with this before I replaced my old router with this one. So if from PC xxxTLC03 I want to ping PC xxxtlc02, I would like to just specify xxxtlc02 instead of 192.168.102. Pinging isn't really my only problem. I want to be able to refer to name instead of the IP for other items also. I just need to understand why the IP isn't being automatically resolved anymore.

I think I understand part of why I am having this problem. The DHCP server in the router is adding WRVS4400Nv2 as a DNS suffix search list to all of the machines it assigns an IP address to. So when I ping xxxtac02, it looks for xxxtac002.WRVS4400Nv2 and it's finding WRVS4400Nv2 outside of my network.

Is there anyway to configure the router to stop adding that DNS suffix search list?
