Hi!
We have a rv082 hand have some connections problem with it. The connection is slow when starting a request. Example if you go to a url it takes 1-2sekeonds before its connects and starts getting information. Same when you try to download something it takes some time before it's connects but when it has started the speed it good. Sp it's just the first request/connection to the site that takes time.
I have tried wothout the router and just connected my computer to the cabel than everything goes mutch faster.
First i tought it was the firewall but have turned it off but still the same problem.
Have the latest firmware.
Someone have a clue what is can be?

I would try disabling the SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) option located under the Firewall on the RV082. You should see some improvment on the
speed by disabling this option.

What type of internet connect do you have? (DSL, Cable, etc) What is the device(s) in front of the RV082? ( modem or modem/router) This information would be helpful to understand your problem.

Hi!
We have a fiber cabel 30mbit up/down. There is no device in front of the rv082.
The problem doesn't accure if i connect my computer directly to the fiber cabel without the rv082.

Oscar,
When you connect directly to the fiber cable what type of IP address do you get? (public or private)
When you connect directly to the cable where does that cable come from? is is coming directly out of the wall? Most of the time it has to be some type of device that get you the Internet.
Does the slowness happen with all websites? do you have the same prolem with Https sites also?
Thanks

When i connect direct to the fiber i get a public ip. we have a static ip's.
The cabel is comming direct from the wall/isp. We dont have any device to get internet like cabel/adsl modem.
What i have seen it's the same problem with https but not sure. Havent tested that that much.

One thing that I would recommend trying is changing the MTU size to 1492 on the router. Just let you know this will cause the device to reboot so do this when no when is on the network. Please let me know if this helps.
Thanks

Oscar,
Your not by chance using both wans on this device? Maybe putting two addresses on the wan ports and plugging into the fiber connection?
05-17-2011 05:33 AM
Im not using both wan's. You suggest i should use both wan's?

No, im not suggesting using both wan's but you can switch your settings up on the second wan and disconnect the first wan. Then see if your having the same issue.
This will help identify if it is just a wan or the device as a whole?
Did setting the mtu's help any?

I've been having the same problems, but just when I connect the second link.
Someone could help me?
WAN1 = STATIC IP
WAN2 = PPOE

Sounds more like a DNS issue. try using OpenDNS servers as you DNS entries.

I'm already using it.
DNS1: 208.67.220.220
DNS2: 208.67.222.222
