Hello lucashingis,
This firmware is for our newer version model# RV042 V3. If you have a later version model# it won't allow the upgrade.
Check the version model number of your device and see if it is a version 3. The Version 3 models are black and gray,
versus the blue and grey of the older versions. I hope this was informative for you.

Thanks for the support, fwofford. I'm going to see it this friday because the router is in a neighbor city.
Furthermore, do you know when the Linksys started selling this version 3? I've just bought it here in Brasil.

I've just found a store selling this version 3 here in São Paulo. Thanks again.

Does this mean we have to update to get firmware updates?
04-01-2011 06:44 AM
it means you have to buy a new one with V3 in order to be able to update the software

If you have version 2 hardware and you are currently at 1.3.12.19 then you are at the latest firmware that is available for your hardware
version. The version 3 hardware routers have just recently started being availalble and the latest firmware for that hardware is the 4.0.0.07.
So you can only upgrade to the 4.0.0.07 only if you have the new version 3 hardware.

Hello,
We recently purchased a new RV042 (V3) to use with our company's VPN network and I was curious is the configuration file from a V1/V2 of the unit would work with this V3 unit, given the different f/w versions.
Let me know,
Thank you
UPDATE: Nevermind, I see that the V3 router will not accept the backup config file of a V1/V2 router.

Well, thanks. I recently bought two RV042 V3 and I would try the backup file of V2.
