I have RV082 in many locations and it is working fine.

One location I just starting to have problem with packet lose (50 to 60 %)

I ping between two location which i am having problem.

Gateway to Gateway shows no lose on packet (reply with 20ms avg.)

but router to router will lose packet 50 to 60 %

if get any reply it would be around 100 ms to 900 ms

anyone knows what could cause this problem?

MKYENT2000,

I suspect that the issue is not router related based on what you have told me so far. The way to know for certain is to change one of the routers with a known working one. Try the ping and see if you have the same results.

Hi MKYENT2000,

Thank you for posting. I am a little confused about your configuration. When you say router to router do you mean through a VPN tunnel? Please provide more detail about your network.

Each Internet Connection has Static IP address

Ex.

Office 1 - RV082

public Ip address 66.66.66.66

subnet 255.255.255.248

gateway 66.66.66.71

lan ip to router 192.168.1.1

Office 2 - RV082

public ip address 77.77.77.77

subnet 255.255.255.248

gateway 77.77.77.82

lan ip to router 192.168.2.1

I am not able to setup VPN due to packet lose

ping from 192.168.2.1 to 66.66.66.71 (no packet lose)

ping from  77.77.77.82 to 66.66.66.71 (no packet lose)

ping from 192.168.2.1 to 66.66.66.66 (packet lose 50% to 58 %)

same goes pinging from other office site

this is DSL with modem is acting as gateway and router behind

Hope I explain myself

thanks for looking into it

MKYENT2000,

Thank you for the additional information. I gather that you can ping the gateway of the opposite router no problem but if you ping the static WAN IP of the opposite router you have packet loss. A few questions:

  1. Do you have DSL at each end?
  2. What is the MTU set at for the WAN port on each router? (DSL usually works well at 1492)

I have try MTU to 1492 Manual setting, but no luck

Not sure it is router problem, I am end of wall with this problem

I have turn off all PC and Server from one location and connect only Laptop and having same issue.

Could this be cause by DSL company switch?

if so, how gateway can ping each other without lose packet.

Thanks

MKYENT2000,

I have try new working RV082 Router and result is same.

It is just between Office 1 and Office 2, I can access either office from Office 3 , 4, 5, 6 without any problem.

I even shut down all workstations and server at both location and try to ping but result is same.

DSL company cold not find any problem on thier side at either place.

Problem is resolved by replacing IP Block assign to my office

I am sure it was in DSL Company side.

Thank you for reading and help
