Upgraded from 1.0.2.6 to 1.0.4.14 three days ago. Ever since, if I am tweaking a firewall rule or changing, say, a VPN parameter, when I go to save the change the UI will sometimes go half-dark as always but the change never completes. The admin UI is disabled and VPN sessions won't connect. Since I am currently in central Greece and the router is in Seattle this is somewhat inconvenient. I have to email the colo support staff and have the device power-cycled.
So I'd like to make sure I'm not going to brick the device by downgrading back to 1.0.2.6.
FWIW my ping time from here is around 300 msec. That's the only change in the device environment. Otherwise it's been in production close to a year on 1.0.2.6 with no issues.
PS: Those of us doing this stuff over 3G modems would sure be happy if the firmware listings included a SHA256 checksum/hash.

Hi egrouprv180,
I don't have the same problems you do but I did have other issues with this firmware version.
I have the wired only version of the RV180. Every time I upgraded to 1.0.4.14 the router would be very very slow, sometimes not boot up at all, didnt bring up the LAN ports and various other issues.
When I did manage to log on to the device running 1.0.4.14, I saw that in the log files the Kernel was reporting varios issues reported in the Alert, Error and also the Warning logs. This might explain the slow speed and other problems. I believe this problem also causes 100% processor load, again causing issues for overall speed using the device, management and other services. I will be posting my information in another post.
But to answer your question... Yes... you should be able to downgrade (but be ready to re-set config settings/etc).
I did quite a few downgrades / resets to default settings etc, just so I was able to test or try and fix the issues I was having. In the end I gave up.... Reset the unit to defaults and downgraded to 1.0.3.10, reset to defaults again (to make sure) and re-setup my config from stratch (I didn't trust the config backups I made, plus while it was fresh I could check all settings again, plus for security/stablity reasons you should always load default settings after ANY firmware upgrade).
Running back on 1.0.3.10, I have no issues with the settings I need. VPN is still working to another RV180 in the UK. Over the last few months I was hoping more would report issues with the upgrade to 1.0.4.14 firmware but it appears most people either do not have problems or are not upgrading the firmware (the more likely). Downgrade to version 10.0.2.6 should also be fine (IMO).
I'm so glad I didn't try to remotely update my other rv180, no techinical people where the other box is located! :S
Hope this answer helps a little,
