WRVS4400N Resetting itself to default settings.

I have 2 WRVS4400N routers that were installed at 2 remote locations to provide VPN access to these sites. The routers have been found reset to the factory defaults on three occasions, twice on one of them and once on the other. Both sites are unmanned so no-one is on site to have pressed the reset button, and both routers were set to have remote management disabled. They are running v2013 firmware.

Anthony,

Make sure the units are on (min) a Surge protector. Power failures (Black outs) & (brown outs) can cause the units to reset. Multiple power glitches back to back can cause the units to reset to factory. Static charge can cause the units to reset. Make sure these units are well ventilated and not near a high voltage line which usually puts off (EMI) Electromagnetic interference.

Thank you.

Power is always suspect at these locations. We fight both mains power issues with frequent brown/black outs and a very high frequency of lightning.

Anthony,

If that is the case i would recommend you getting a small UPS (back-UPS) Getting a Ups will condition the power and help your situation. These UPS are generally uses for computers and peripheral device and generally under or around 100$ for one that will give about 10-20 minutes depending on how many watts you're pulling from it . Just read the reviews on these guys and get best possible one for your situation.
