I have been doing research and am wondering if I can do the following: if I add a second ADSL connection, can I use the ISP's ADSL modem and simply add another Ethernet port in the expansion slot and then configure it to load balance with FE 0/1? This is for a public school so I am looking for a cost effective solution.

ADSL transmits more than 6 Mbps to a subscriber, and as much as 640 kbps more in both directions.

yes i think you are talking about like you are going to have two ADSL connection and you want to loadbalance right!!!
so you can have the two static route with the same AD pointing to the appropriate interface.
