Hello,
We are quoting for a 2901 Cisco router with a SHDSL card for a customer who require 200 concurrent connections through the SHDSL line. Could you please advise if the Cisco 2901 router is suitable to support the 200 concurrent users? Is there any data sheet supporting this statement?
Please advise.
Chandra

Routers and switches generally don't "care" about number of users, they "care" about traffic volume.
If you can precisely answer how much bandwidth your 200 users will use, you can be pretty precise in selecting a device.
For a 4 Mbps link, a 2901 will easily handle that. If fact, a 800 series would work fine too. However, if the 2901 was also going to be used for routing on the LAN side, it could be totally inadequate.
PS:
Cisco recommends a 2901 for up to 25 Mbps of WAN bandwidth, but this is a very conservative.

200 concurrent connection dose not reflect how much bandwidth required
What is the wan link bandwidth ? Is there any other requirement like VoIP, security, VPN ?

Marwanshawi,
Thanks for the reply. In fact the site is connected using a 4 Mbps link. The remote sites will also be connected using SHDSL lines. Since the server is situated at the main site, remote users access the main site for database access, the customer wishes to know if 200 concurrent users can access the servers simultaneously.

Well 4Mbps is not high 2901 or 2921 can work

Marwanshawi,
Can 200 concurrent users access the router simultaneously. Can the router support the 200 concurrent access? Do we have any kind of data sheet mentioning the above?

Chandra

The users would not access the router but yes the 2901 can handle 4 Mbps of traffic
Wether 4 Mbps is enough for 200 users is a different question
