2911 run config/start config

Hi i just got a 2911 router (IOS 15.1) and upgraded the license feature to securityk9 (for DMVPN use). The problem is that when the router reboots it comes up with blank running configuration. However the desired configuration is still stored in startup-config and can be copied into run. What needs to be done so the router retains his config after a reboot.

Deed to mention that the security license feature is under evaluation mode. Does that count?

Did you check the configuration register value, is it 0x2142? If it is you need to change it. 0x2142 cause the router to boot up and by pass the startup-config.

Configuration register is 0x2142.

The Configuration Register needs to be 0x2102

To change it do  this:

Go to global config mode and type in:

Config-register 0x2102

Then use the show ver again to confirm the change. Reload the router and the Start-up config should load.

0x2142 is used to bybass the start-up-config so you can do password recovery.
