We have cisco ISR 4321 router and installed 2GE-CU-SFP module.Router detected ports on the router but they are showing the status as follows

GigabitEthernet0/1/0 unassigned YES manual down down
GigabitEthernet0/1/1 unassigned YES NVRAM down down

Module shows working

show hw-module subslot 0/1 oir
Module Model Operational Status
------------- -------------------- ------------------------
subslot 0/1 NIM-2GE-CU-SFP ok

Not sure we have to do anything else.I am trying to connect WAN link to RJ 45 port.

Thanks for your help

Hello @datamodule ,

if you are not using SFP optics and you want to use RJ45 try

interface gi0/1/0

media-type rj45

! this should tell the router you want to use the RJ45 port

Hope to help

Giuseppe

 - The ports may be shutdown in defaulted mode ; check this link for Basic Interface Configuration (example) :

Thanks for your reply.I have tried that before posting here.I have cconfigured IP address,no shut and saved cconfig  but still shows as down/down.Which is why i am getting confused.

 - Issue show logging after the port(s) have been configured and or especially after the no shut command has been given, check if any additional info and or errors are provided in the output.

Hello,

what is the output of:

show hw-module subslot 1/0 transceiver 0 idprom

Have you tired to stop/start the module with:

hw-module subslot slot / subslot [reload | stop | start]

Thanks for your help

sh hw-module subslot 0/1 transceiver 0 idprom

Output shows nothing  because we don't have any SFP on that port.We have connected WAN connetion to RJ45 port.

Tried stopping and starting of the module without suess.

Hello,

--> sh hw-module subslot 0/1 transceiver 0 idprom

I think your subslot is 1/0

sh hw-module subslot 1/0 transceiver 0 idprom

My subslot is definitely 0/1 and the ports detected as 0/1/0 and 0/1/1

GigabitEthernet0/1/0 172.16.10.10 YES manual down down
GigabitEthernet0/1/1 unassigned YES NVRAM down down
