3845 has internal switch module supporting a tunnelled distance learning - upgrading to 4451 router

Good morning,

I'm currently in the process of replacing our old 3845 router with a 4451. The issue is the 3845 router has an internal switch module and is only using 1 Fast Ethernet interface for tunneling distance learning traffic back to our central location. The  vlan under this Fast Ethernet interface ( listed below) on the 3845's internal switch module doesn't show up on the router or the local switches in this remote area. The Vlan is actually configured back at our central location since its being tunneled through our network. Do we need to purchase an internal switch module for our new 4451 router  in order to get this traffic tunneled properly? Or is it possible to create a sub interface on a Gig port on the new 4451 router to tag this traffic. I don't want to create this vlan on any local switches to this area and cause a spanning-tree loop since this area is in a different VTP domain.

***Note the Vlan on this interface is tunneled throughout our remote areas to tunnel DL traffic***

Thank you,

Technically yes, but you also need to look at the other physical end of this port. Meaning that should also be changed to trunk/dot1q once getting connected to on-board Ethernet ports of the ISR4k
