Trying to setup a 4510. Having problems with VLAN 1 not coming up. VLAN 1 shows down - down. No shut command is not working. HELP!!!

Do you have at least one port in VLAN 1 with an active device plugged into that port? Without at least one active device the VLAN will not come up.

Hi Aj,

As stated in pevious post you need to have atleast one port assigned to vlan 1 to make it active. But even if you configure any port as a trunk port it will bring your vlan 1 as up.

Try that and update us.

Your SUP engine (whether 3, 4 or 5) has layer 3 capabilities on it. No matter what you do with a "no shut", under the vlan interface...you will not see it up/up until atleast on client is connected to any of the ports that fall under vlan 1. So connect a laptop or a PC to one of the ports, put that port into vlan 1 and you should see Vlan 1 status up/up. You can also verify this by executing a show ip route on the switch.
