7200xvr not booting IOS

I'm trying to load a new ios on this device. I have it installed in its disk2: slot.  However, it doesn't appear to be loading it.  I keep seeing

an alternate boot helper program is not specified
(monitor variable "BOOTLDR" is not set)
and unable to determine first file in bootflash
loadprog: error - on file open
boot: cannot load "cisco2-C7200"

I've tried to boot the IOS via tftp but that doesn't work either.  I'm now getting the output below when I just try to dir bootflash: or disk2:

Checksum failed on c7200-fslib-m
Expected checksum: 294e, calculated checksum: 294d
open: file "c7200-fslib-m" not found
open(): Open Error = -1
loadprog: error - on file open
cannot load the monitor library "eprom:%c7200-fslib-m" from device: boot flashdir: cannot open device "bootflash:"

When I let it run without breaking it into ROMMON mode it just states the above input about bootldr and sits there as I've pasted below....

Readonly ROMMON initialized
an alternate boot helper program is not specified
(monitor variable "BOOTLDR" is not set)
and unable to determine first file in bootflash
loadprog: error - on file open
boot: cannot load "cisco2-C7200"

System Bootstrap, Version 12.3(4r)T3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

C7200 platform with 524288 Kbytes of main memory

Readonly ROMMON initialized
string is disk2:c7200-ik9s-mz.122-15.T9.bin

Can anyone assist?

Thanks!

the NPE is trying to load a bootloader but the bootflash seems to be unformated or corrupted.  You might be able to boot around the bootloader from rommon.

try the following from rommon

dev       (will report available flash memory devices)

dir disk2:      (if this comes back without error should show available files in flash)

boot disk2:   (this is the image seen in the dir command)

rommon is picky about syntax and has no context sensitive help.  You will have to make sure to type everything correctly.
