7204 gbic

I have a 7204VXR with 1000base-sx gbic in it.  Will this handle only multi mode patch cords or will it run ok with a single mode patch cord?  What will happen if I use a single mode patch cord?  I only need to cover about 10feet and the other device requires single mode.

thanks,

Based on experience, it Sorta kinda works sometimes, you would susceptable to more link layer errors. Short answer is I wouldn't do it.

there is some collateral info on cisco.com

I sort of figured that, do you think this is the single mode version I should be looking to buy?

thanks

Thre is an NPE dependency involved. table 11 in the link listed below gives the various gbics by router/processor.

thanks for the info, this is good.
