Is there a way we can tell what the manufacture date is on a Cisco product?

Yes, there is (well, not the exact date, but the week of the year):

For example, SAL17278M0Q (a DFC3CXL we have) was manufactured during week 27 of 2013.

I tried the "sh ver" command on our 7606 and did not see any serial number:

"show inventory" will give you a lot of serial numbers

Is the chart referenced in John Higham's blog post still a valid reference? And if it is, I assume that the years would simply keep incrementing by one as they years go out beyond 2008?
