877 Router Failover

Hey

I have one ISP connection connected directly into a single 877 router (Router A).

I need to install a second router (Router B) to provide redundancy in case Router A fails. Router A has an internal ip of 192.168.0.3 which is the PC's default gateway.

Is it possible to set them up so that if A  fails B automatically kicks in, uses the ISP's connection and an IP of 192.168.0.3 so users dont experience any downtime?

I know Hot Standby Router Protocol is an option.

Assuming that both routers (A and B) each have a connection to the ISP (with a public IP Address on each of them) ...

In that case, you would want to use hsrp on the inside interfaces of both routers, and use that address as the PCs default gateway.

Because each router would have a different IP address on the internet side, you WOULD drop any tcp connections from PCs out to the internet ...

but that is generally not very painful.
