ASA 5505 Failover ISP Verizon Aircard

Hello All,

I’m working with a customer who has upgraded from a Sonicwall w/ PCMCIA card slot to a Cisco ASA 5505. They were using this slot with a Verizon card as an ISP failover. Obviously the ASA does not have a PCMCIA slot to reuse this aircard. However, I was wondering if there is another solution to use the existing aricard with the ASA.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Daniel,

I believe the USB ports on the ASA5510 cannot be used for anything yet, (i.e. USB to PCMCIA adapter)

I know it's an additional piece of hardware, but perhaps you should consider using a device from CradlePoint, like the MBR1200, or CBR 450 (USB or ExpressCard dongles only) to provide a wireless connection to your backup ISP, and plugging the cradlepoint device into the ASA?

Then you could configure the ASA to use the cradlepoint connection as a redundant ISP connection:

I hope this helps,
