Re: ASR-1002-x IOS upgrade issue

hello

we have cisco ASR1002-X and we try to upgrade it to
asr1002x-universalk9.16.06.07.SPA

after we restart the router it enter in restarting loop and show this messages

now i can't do anything to router

Hi

You need to get in rommon mode and try to at least start from previous version.

Press the Break key or send a Break from the console terminal. If Break is enabled, the router enters the ROM monitor, indicated by the ROM monitor prompt (rommon1>).

This is the culprit. Let me explain:

1. Router is getting upgraded to 16.6.X but the ROMMON is still 16.2(1r).

2. Cisco hides the ROMMON compatibility matrix for ISR 4000 and ASR 1000.

3. If I use the ROMMON Compatibility Matrix for the ISR 1000, for firmware version 16.6.X the router should have a ROMMON version of 16.9(4r) or newer.

This document will provide the correct guidance on how to upgrade the ROMMON, upgrade the firmware in Install Mode (recommended) and any "gotchas" that you need to look out for.
