Dear All,
in my work there is a warning keep showing on ASR 1004 router as below
%PLATFORM-4-ELEMENT_WARNING: R0/0: smand: SIP/0: Committed Memory value 98% exceeds warning level 95%
i googled that log and found that its a bug in calculation of memory and can be solved by upgrade IOS image to Cisco recommended version "as per Cisco website" which is 3.13.6aS
it is my first time to upgrade this IOS-XE routers, i used to update IOS router with below order of command
copy tftp flash
boot system flash
write
reload
while i check cisco website and found that i have to use about 19 step in upgrade using sub packages of the consolidated package
i have two question
first, is it really i have to use platform request commands and the 19 steps ? can't i simply use the common way of IOS upgrade as i mentioned above
second, i don't have enough memory space to hold both images as below, what should i do ?

From 3.1.X to 3.13.X? What about upgrading the bootstrap/ROMmon while you're at it?
11-22-2016 08:07 PM
Yes i am going to upgrade from 3.1 to 3.13
do you mean that i have to make upgrade to both ios and rommon ? or you mean that issue can be solved by upgrade rommon only ?

Upgrade the IOS and the ROMmon with one reboot.

what is the correct procedure ?
should i use common way to upgrade ios or i need to follow 19 steps mentioned on Cisco website ?
Cisco website shows that 19 steps for routers working in sub package mode, while i think my router is in consolidated mode as it boot directly from the .bin file not the .conf file
what shall i do with insufficient memory space ?
