ASR1001-X doesn't detect SPA card

Greetings,

I have a ASR1001-X router that I'm trying to install a 10G SPA card in.  In fact, I have two of these routers, with SPA cards for each, and they are both exhibiting the same behavior.  In both cases, the ASR doesn't detect the SPA card at all.  A look at the log file shows that it doesn't see an insertion of the card.

The output of sh platform doesn't see the SPA ether.

Chassis type: ASR1001-X

Slot Type State Insert time (ago)
--------- ------------------- --------------------- -----------------
0 ASR1001-X ok 1y44w
0/0 BUILT-IN-2T+6X1GE ok 1y44w
R0 ASR1001-X ok, active 1y44w
F0 ASR1001-X ok, active 1y44w
P0 ASR1001-X-PWR-AC ok 1y44w
P1 ASR1001-X-PWR-AC ok 1y44w
P2 ASR1001-X-FANTRAY ok 1y44w

Slot CPLD Version Firmware Version
--------- ------------------- ---------------------------------------
0 14041015 15.4(2r)S
R0 14041015 15.4(2r)S
F0 14041015 15.4(2r)S

From everything I've read, this should be supported on my platform.  The card is the SPA-1X10GE-L-V2

I'm running Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 03.16.05.S

Both of these ASR's have never previously had a module inserted in their SPA slots, so the slot should not be powered off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't see it in the release notes, and I can't reference it offhand, but this smells like a ROMMON upgrade is needed. That's the gut feeling I have.

Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking the same thing, and couldn't find any documentation on what RMON version is needed.  However, I do have these same SPA cards running in ASR1001 (non X models) with the same IOS-XE version and on an ever so slightly old older RMON version.  When I saw that, I thought that RMON might not be my issue.

ok, is this remote to you, or do you have console access? Check and see if any got logged that might lead somewhere.
