Means the bootstrap file is not found in the place you've specified, i.  e.  the bootflash.

Can you please post the output to the command "dir"?

The error pops up when I try to upgrade rommon

I know what is going on ...

Your file is "corrupt" or download was not completed.  Look at the file size.  It doesn't add up.

Do this command "verify /md5 bootflash:asr1000-rommon.153-3r.S1.pkg 7d7b3342b4922b7216ceea8bf112caf4" and I can assure you this will kick up an error message.

"7d7b3342b4922b7216ceea8bf112caf4" is the MD5 hash value taken from the Cisco website.  Besides, look at the file size listed in the Cisco website.  The file is suppose to be "2.42 MB".

ASR1006#verify /md5 bootflash:

bootflash:asr1000-rommon.153-3r.S1.pkg c818ccd5af831f844646a74ffe33d1d8

........................................................................................................................................Done!

Verified (bootflash:asr1000-rommon.153-3r.S1.pkg) = c818ccd5af831f844646a74ffe33d1d8

MD5 is actually correct.

ASR1000 Series ROM Monitor upgrade package for Gigabit Ethernet Linecard

ASR1000 Series ROM Monitor upgrade package for m8500 and x86

Confused. What is the rommon upgrade for?

Resolved Caveats in ROMmon Release 15.3(3r)S1

The following issue has been resolved in Release 15.3(3r)S1:

CSCui25176

Modified the CPLD's HKP PLL configuration register value in the Cisco ASR 1000 Ethernet Line Card to reflect IBM's recommended value for the correct HKP PLL configuration.

Check out the bug.  If you have the line card affected, then upgrade to 15.3(3r)S1.  Otherwise, don't worry about it.

The second software is an older ROMmon.

Try transfer the file in ftp binary mode rather than ascii mode

Hello,

I have a similar problem.

I have some ASR1006 chassis with 2x RP2, 2x ESP40 and 2x SIP40 (2x SPA-10G cards in the SIPs).

During the migration I completely followed the official Cisco instructions: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr1000/release/notes/xe-16-9/asr1000-rel-notes-xe-16-9.html#concept_zdm_2nx_5bb

Especially regarding the recommended ROMMON versions:

Cisco IOS XE ReleaseASR 1000 RP2ASR 1000-SIP40ASR 1000-ESP40
16.9.x16.9(5r)16.3(2r)16.3(2r)

All RPs run on IOS XE 16.9.3 and ROMMON Verion 16.9(5r).
All SIP40s run on ROMMON version 16.3(2r).

Only a few (not all) ESP40 can not be upgraded to 16.3(2r).

The following error message appears:

Target copying rom-monitor image file

cp: omitting directory '/'

md5sum: /: Is a directory

md5sum: /bootflash/EFI/UpdateCapsule/UpdateCapsuleFile.bin: No such file or directory

Does anyone have any idea where the problem is or how to solve it?
