Hi,

Bandwidth command is used only for communicating the interface bandwidth value to higher lever protoclos. eg: Routing protols which use bandwidth as a parameter for calculating metric takes this value if configured.

This command won't affect the actual bandwidth of the physical interface.

Hi;

If you want to limit the traffic 128K on FE port, then you may use Committed Access Rate definitions such as;

rate-limit input 128000 16000 32000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

rate-limit output 128000 16000 32000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

This conf. will limit the traffic

Can this command supported by Cisco Catalyst 2950 with standard image?

Hi;

I missed the part that you use 2950 switches. As it is L2 switch, this conf. does not work on it besides there is not such a support with standart images as far as i have known. You may limit the bandwith on L3 side via CAR.
